How To Become A Fashion Stylist M Shop has been stylists for print, music videos, & tv commercials directed by Spike Lee. They have rocked out an NYC boutique, are E-commerce website owners; produce tons of Fashion Shows & Special Event for designers, retailers, and corporations nationwide; are a Public Relations Firm; are Fashion Consultants; have their own successful line (LaMa); and have dressed everyone on the A-List including Mary J Blige, Lenny Kravitz, Pharell, Angelina Jolie, Jessica Simpson, Aerosmith, Jada Pinkett-Smith and the Dixie Chicks. They have been seen spitting fashion tips and trend spotting on MTV, VH1, Oprah's Oxygen Network, Full Frontal Fashion, Fox's Ambush Makeover, The Early Show, The Today Show, and every funky fashion magazine out there. . And they do it themselves, without any press person working for them. In addition to the most informative workshops around, one of us currently teaches classes at Parsons The New School For Design in NYC, and we have a marketing partnership with 24/Seven, the Fashion Industry's leading job placement agency. We do Manufacturing and Production Consulting (with over 23 years of fashion manufacturing and production experience collectively in the NYC Garment District) and have written the guide booklet "HOW TO MANUFACTURE/PRODUCE YOUR DESIGNS," available now by clicking here. You will learn: 1. What it means to be a stylist and what avenues to take to become a working one. 2. Best ways to build your portfolio, how one should go about doing this, and the various ways it can be done. 3. The difference between a portfolio in print and a styling reel for television or film. 4. Building relationships with the press, showrooms, vendors, designers, and retailers that you will pull from- what you will need and what they will want in exchange. 5. How to secure an agent and the pros and cons of having one. 6. How to keep your work fresh and keep your portfolio current. 7. Positioning yourself as a brand and tons more. 8. Tools of the trade: loan slips and letters of responsibility- what they are and how to create them. 9. Trendspotting & taking risks. This 2 hour workshop is very thorough and intense, but is a fun place to network, meet, and learn. You will gain knowledge on the importance and purpose of a fashion show, timelines and getting your show listed. How to cast models, do fittings, organize a show, get sponsorship, secure a venue, build a gift bag, building and organizing a seating chart, press check in format, front and back of house, how to create a budget, how to create look sheets, invites and much more. In fact, you will most likely not find all of this information in any one place. This workshop provides invaluable consolidated information based on experience that makes applying it extremely approachable. A question and answer period will follow so that you get your personal questions answered. In addition, all registrants will receive access to our Fashion Business Message Board and a very thorough Resource Guide that includes tons of resources you'll need along the way, as well as beverages & snacks.
